Derek Hoiem, CEO
Derek was a software designer for Microsoft for over a decade, bringing many projects to market from start to finish. After Microsoft, Derek was an administrative pastor for a church and, having been a drummer himself, was curious about the music industry and how it related to churches. He began to learn all aspects of the music industry and experiment with digital recording. During that process, he created Rain On Me Productions, the parent company of Save the City Records. From it’s inception in a backyard, to now recruiting top acts in Christian music today, Derek brings his various backgrounds to running the operations of the company. In addition to being CEO, he is currently an adjunct professor at the Creatio program at Northwest University.
Chris Chicago, Head of National Radio Promotion
Chris has worked with many of Christian music’s top artists, delivering hits to radio for Switchfoot, Natalie Grant, Casting Crowns, Third Day, Pillar, Red, Tenth Ave. North, Plumb, Leeland, Group 1 Crew, Beckah Shae, Lecrae, Among the Thirsty, Fireflight, Jars of Clay, Mikeschair, Newsboys and Rush of Fools. In addition to successfully promoting many top singles on the Billboard Christian CHR and Rock charts, Chicago was responsible for a radio promotion milestone while promoting the band Red. Red made Radio & Records history as the first band in Christian Rock history to debut a song at No. 1 when the band’s single “Fight Inside” was released in November 2008. Chris also hosts “Hype Radio with Chris Chicago,” the No. 1 syndicated Christian hip hop show, heard in more than 125 markets internationally.
Luke Peterson, Digital Marketing / Web Design
Luke entry into the music business was as a musician. He toured with different artists and bands for 5 years prior to working with STC. His love for music began when he started playing drums at 10 years old and continues to play with musicians on the road and in the studio today. Along with being a musician, Luke holds a degree in Business/Marketing from Pacific Lutheran University.
Je’kob Washington | Graphic Design, Video, Media Art
Jacob has been in the music industry as an Artist, Producer, Engineer & Graphic Designer for over 16 years. He began his journey in a family group called “Souljahz” eventually signing to Warner Brothers/Word Records in 2002. Jacob later found himself being called by God to reemerge independently as “Washington Projects”. Jacob is also the solo artist, “Je’kob” and most recently released his album “This Side Of the Sky”. Jacob lends his creativity to our graphic design, video, and media art at Save The City Records.
Margaret Akers, Project Management
Margaret graduated from Northwest University with a degree in music business. She’s interned at EMI CMG under Tooth & Nail Records and for The Pacific Northwest Chapter of The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs). After volunteering for two major national promoters for over three years, staffing the local AC Radio station promotions team, and working full time at Tooth & Nail Records in marketing and national promotions, she finds herself at Save The City Records as a project manager, booking manager, and A&R representative. Margaret has a passion for developing quality music and supporting artists in every step of their journey.
Deanne Tyree, Booking
Deanne has been working with Save the City Records since 2008. She has a passion for people and therefore loves to connect and network with talented individuals across the country. Lovingly known at the label as “Momma D,” she works as the booking and event coordinator for Save the City Records. Deanne has a true passion for working in the music industry and her creativity comes through when brainstorming how you can use music for your church or events.
