FAQ

[line_heading] I’m in a band. How do I submit music?[/line_heading]
We’ll be honest. We get slammed with music submissions. Also, we’ve never signed a band just through a submission on pure talent alone. We want to get to KNOW you. You can do that by having us come and play at your event, church, or organization. Doing gigs together is the best way to get to know bands and how they do business. After we meet you in person and see how you “roll” AND THEN if you have a killer demo, we might be ready to deal.

[line_heading]I’m an artist. Can you help me?[/line_heading]
YES! We do hourly consulting with bands. We think the “consultant by the hour” is good way to get started. We have a lot of experience with music business & law, distribution, marketing, band dynamics, booking, etc. and we can help you get ahead without signing your life away. Call 877-803-7345 and talk to Derek or Whitney. If we feel you are far enough in your development, we can refer you to some top management teams that we know.

[line_heading]Isn’t booking your bands expensive?[/line_heading]
NO! We are very affordable. In some cases we may be able to come out if you just pass the hat and cover travel expenses. Contact Deanne in our booking department to discuss options at booking@savethecityrecords.com or 877-803-7345. We think you will be surprised!

[line_heading]Do you guys also record/produce artists?[/line_heading]
YES! We generally bid projects per song, or for the whole project. Call 877-803-7345 and talk to Derek or Matt.

[line_heading]Can our band tour with you?[/line_heading]
We are open to that. We have to get to know you first. (See #1.) The best way for us to get to know you is if you book a gig for us, and we do it together. Then we go from there.

[line_heading]Can we use your music in a simple YouTube Video?[/line_heading]
YES! We love that. However, if you’re getting ad revenue because you’re a YouTube partner, then we think it’s fair that you pay us a fee since we’d be helping you become more popular. Also, if you’re an independent filmmaker, I think you’ll find it less cumbersome dealing with us than a major label. Contact http://www.musicservices.org and they’ll handle everything on our behalf.

[line_heading]I’m a worship leader, can you help me record and market the music to our church and elsewhere?[/line_heading]
YES! The best way for us to help you is by starting out doing hourly consulting. That way, you can know with low risk if our advice is helping you. See #2.

[line_heading]I’m a pastor. Why should we have your artists come to our church when we have our own?[/line_heading]
We get calls every week from musicians in churches, big and small, looking for marketing help and places to play. If your own musicians and worship teams are looking for marketing help and occasionally wanting to reach out to larger audiences, wouldn’t you want a fellow pastor to host them? If you’re not hiring Christian musicians for your services from time to time, who will? For example, when was the last time you hired a Christian rap artist to minister to your youth group? If you haven’t done this, you should check out what your kids are listening to on their iPods – it might surprise you and the church should provide alternatives.

[line_heading]I book bands for clubs and public events, we don’t want religious music.[/line_heading]
We find that most public events are looking for clean, family-oriented music with musicians that you can trust. That’s us, and we tailor our music for your events. Also, many of our artists have (or still do) play with many acts you see all over the world, including Grammy winners (NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Color Me Badd, to name a few), and we’ve been highlighted in the iTunes store. Listen to our music and talk to us! booking@savethecityrecords.com or 877-803-7345.
